A great golf swing is a study in fluid dynamics—a perfect arc of power and precision. At Enclave, we asked ourselves: Can you capture that millisecond of movement in solid timber?
The Project Spotlight: The Wack Shack For this bespoke installation, the brief was to create a functional counter that felt at home in a high-tech golf environment. We chose to move away from static, boxy joinery and instead utilised parametric design to “freeze” the motion of a club head through its swing plane.
The Anatomy of the Arc
Look closely at the undulating “fins” of the counter. This isn’t just a random wave; it’s a data-driven representation of a swing path:
-
The Downswing: The fins begin with a subtle lean, mimicking the build-up of potential energy.
-
The Impact Zone: In the centre of the installation, the timber “pinches” and twists most aggressively—representing the moment of maximum compression and power at the ball.
-
The Follow-Through: The curve then releases, smoothing out into a graceful exit that leads the eye towards the simulator screen.
Digital Craft Meets Sport
To achieve this, we didn’t just pick up a saw. We used algorithmic modelling to ensure every individual slat was cut at a slightly different angle and depth. This creates a “Moire effect” where the sculpture appears to move as you walk past it—much like a swing in motion.
The Enclave Standard: This project is a testament to why we love what we do. It’s about more than cabinetry; it’s about thematic storytelling. We took the DNA of the sport and translated it into architectural millwork that defines the entire room.
The Takeaway: Your space should tell a story. Whether it’s the flow of a golf swing or the organic lines of a landscape, we have the technology and the craft to make it permanent.
